Stylish outdoor lighting environments are cost-effective and eco-friendly.

The dim barely visible ligh that outdoor solar lighting sets once produced is a thing of the past. Outdoor solar lighting is increasing in popularity a lot, probably because of the new technology and functional ability. Both stylish and earth-friendly, modern outdoor solar lighting uses LEDs, high density batteries, and efficient solar cells.

And today, solar cells are fixed to outdoor lights of all sorts of security lights, deck lighting, Christmas lights, and of course garden lighting. In order to make sure that your lights are only on when the sun has set, motion sensors control when your lights turn on. Today, it's easy to see that solar outdoor lighting has made many advancements since its first implementation.

Solar power is well established across many industries and uses. Highway safety equipment, oil companies, and telecommunications systems have tapped into this energy source by installing solar cells on call boxes, road signs, and remote communications towers. Of course, space agencies have also made use of this tremendous force, too.

Standard light bulbs are useful for focusing lights, included in track light fixtures and task lighting. These are also becoming common in outdoor lighting such as for driveways, gardens, pathways, and security lights. You can have your choice of color and setups to meet all of your outdoor lighting needs.

However, a wireless light fixture is only as effective as the power source fueling it. NiCd (Nickel Metal Hydryde) Rechargeable batteries have been utilized in outdoor lighting. They were first developed in the 1980s and have been heralded as more eco-friendly options ever since.

Nickel cadmium is different. (NiCd) Rather than cadmium, NiMHs used hydrogen derived alloys. Cadmium is an extremely toxic metal that can be inhaled during the manufacturing process and can leach into soil and water when not recycled properly. Renal abnormalities, including cancer, pulmonary edema and death, have led to serious health problems.

Better than traditional NiCd, are NiMH batteries. Their efficiency level is much greater at up to three times that of NiCds. And while rechargeables are often somewhat more expensive to purchase than one-use batteries, these ones are relatively inexpensive compared to other rechargeables. And they'll last for years, compared to the short lifespan of non-rechargeables, so are worth the upfront cost.

Solar collectors, efficient LED bulbs, and power little houses, to put a powerful light generator. But what increases their efficiency even more are photo sensors installed in many outdoor lighting fixtures. They absorb sunlight by day and illuminate after dusk. This ensures that the solar outdoor lights are used only when the light dips below a certain level, which cuts battery consumption and wear and tear on the bulbs, too.
